Meet Babs!

Babs is the definition of a gentle soul. This beautiful 1-1.5-year-old shepherd mix girl recently arrived in our program from San Pancho, Mexico, and is now settling into her temporary foster home in the Portland area. We're just starting to learn more about her-but one thing is already crystal clear: she is something truly special. Babs has the sweetest, calmest presence. She's incredibly affectionate, easygoing, and just loves being near her people. Whether it's quietly laying by your side, going for a stroll, or soaking up attention, she's happiest simply being part of the moment. She's wonderful with people, great with other dogs, and has done well around kids. She's even shown to be okay with some cats. Truly, she's the kind of dog who seems to get along with everyone she meets. We're told that she's also house trained and walks beautifully on leash. In busy environments, like a local market, she handled everything with ease-calmly laying down while her person chatted, taking it all in stride. Her mellow, "go-with-the-flow" nature makes her an absolute dream companion. Babs' story hasn't always been this peaceful. She came from a very difficult situation where she was found tied with a wire around her neck, causing severe injuries. Despite everything she endured-and even having a litter of puppies at such a young age-she has remained incredibly kind, trusting, and full of love. Her wounds have healed, and now she's ready for a fresh start filled with the care and comfort she's always deserved.
