What Ben Is Looking For:
What We Know & Why We Love Them (foster/volunteer/staff feedback): "He's a dream!! Truly- for any Shepherd fans, he's a no brainer. I haven't found any issues!" - 1/11/26
"He loves everyone he meets. He likes other dogs, especially ones that likes to play a bit rough with him. He is a dream on a leash. He does have a bit of separation anxiety and would probably do best when someone is home most of the time, at least initially. He encountered my cat once and probably would be best not living with one. He was a bit too interested!" - 1/13/26
Ben Hur Foster Update
Ben Hur has been settling in beautifully and continues to show just how much love he has to give.
He is crate trained and does great overnight, sleeping soundly through the night. He often chooses to hang out in his crate on his own and goes in willingly when it's time for his foster to leave. He may vocalize briefly at first, but he settles quickly once everyone is gone.
Ben Hur is great with older kids and has formed a special bond with his foster's seven-year-old - he absolutely adores him! Because Ben Hur is a big, enthusiastic guy who's still learning his body awareness, a home with older, dog-savvy children would be the best fit.
He is very close to being fully potty trained and has made impressive progress in a short amount of time. His digestion is also improving, and things are heading in the right direction all around.
Ben Hur is a high-energy, playful dog who would do best with a confident, experienced adopter who understands how to support him through introductions, redirection, and ongoing training. With proper guidance, he enjoys social play and benefits from continued positive socialization and structure.
While Ben Hur can be a bit of a "big personality" at times, at his core he is an incredibly affectionate, loving dog with some nervous tendencies that improve with patience, consistency, and reassurance. He thrives when he feels understood and supported.
Ben Hur will do best in a home ready to embrace both his enthusiasm and his heart - and in return, he'll give you unwavering loyalty and so much love. - 1/23/26
