Sharpie is the absolute best mom! After being left alone in an apartment, she bravely gave birth to her puppies during the loud fireworks of the Fourth of July, keeping every single one of them alive and well until they were rescued a few days later. Courageous and resilient, Sharpie came to us with double cherry eye, severe skin issues, and heavy Shar Pei wrinkles covering her vision—yet despite it all, her spirit never broke! She happily greets anyone who offers a gentle voice and an open hand. All she wants is to receive affection and be someone's furever. She is an absolute love bug

Now, after a successful eye surgery and a wrinkle lift, Sharpie has blossomed into a whole new dog! She can see the world freely, her big, radiant smile shows just how grateful she is for her fresh start, and with good nutrition as the key, her coat is coming in softer and shinier every day. At 2 years old, this sweet girl gets along wonderfully with humans big and small, as well as dogs of all sizes—though we aren't sure how she feels about cats, so slow and proper introductions would be best.

Sharpie does great in a kennel, though she is such a good girl that she hasn't even needed one! She will just need a patient refresher on her leash manners and a little gentle guidance as she gets the hang of a new potty routine in her furever home. The Shar Pei is a distinctive breed known for their deep wrinkles and blue black tongue. Originally from China, these medium sized dogs are loyal, independent, and protective of their families. Shar Peis have a unique appearance with a hippopotamus like face and a broad, padded muzzle. Their coat can be either horse coat or brush coat, coming in a variety of colors. While they can be aloof with strangers, Shar Peis are devoted companions with a calm demeanor, making them wonderful family pets.
