Ruby is such a sweetheart. She’s incredibly smart and really blossoms with gentle verbal praise, often “checking in” with her person in new situations as if to say, “Am I doing okay?” A little reassurance goes a long way in helping her feel confident as she adjusts.

She’s formed a special bond with me her foster mom, though she may naturally choose one primary person—or even grow close to another dog companion. With slow, thoughtful introductions, she does wonderfully with other respectful neighborhood dogs and truly seems to enjoy their company.

Ruby thrives on routine. She has a moderate activity level—she enjoys a short morning walk to sniff her favorite spots and take care of business, followed by a longer, more leisurely evening stroll, often alongside a neighbor dog she seems especially fond of.

She’s a light eater, but she’s doing just fine overall. Occasionally, adding a little scrambled egg to her food helps tempt her appetite—sometimes that’s all she needs.

She also loves little adventures. Whether it’s spending time at the office or going on a camping trip, as long as she has her cozy blanket and dog bed, she settles in beautifully. Those familiar comforts really help her feel safe and at ease.

At home, Ruby has claimed her favorite spots—usually the couch or her dog bed—where she feels most relaxed. She’s even growing more comfortable with grooming routines, letting me gently clean her schnauzer muzzle and beginning to accept having her teeth brushed.

At night, she’s happy sleeping on the couch or her bed in the living room, though sometimes she enjoys being close by with her bed next to ours. She’s truly a gentle, loving companion who just wants to feel safe, understood, and loved.

The Parson Russell Terrier is a spirited and intelligent breed known for their energetic nature and strong hunting instincts. These small to medium sized dogs have a compact, athletic build with a wiry coat that can be either smooth or rough. They are highly active and require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. With their playful demeanor and friendly personality, Parson Russell Terriers make loyal companions for active families who can provide them with the attention and exercise they need.
