Aitutaki was bred in Tennessee to guard livestock, but his timid, gentle nature made him better suited for cuddling than working. Luckily, he was given up to rescue and landed right in our care.

He's a gentle giant with soulful eyes — hungry for affection, even if he doesn't quite know how to ask for it yet. He takes a little time to warm up to new people, especially men, but once he does, he's the sweetest snuggle bug, happiest when he's close to his people. He's not clingy and has no separation anxiety, so he's just as content giving you space as he is curled up beside you.

Loud noises and sudden movements can startle him, so he's looking for a calm, low-key home — ideally without unpredictable young kids. He gets along great with other dogs and is happy to share his space with dog-savvy cats.
