Pocus - Rottweiler and Golden Retriever Dog for Adoption in Yorktown, Virginia

POCUS

Rottweiler, Golden Retriever
🇺🇸
Yorktown, Virginia
June 29th
male, large, baby

DESCRIPTION

Meet Pocus !!

This handsome boy and his brother Hocus (posted separately) ended up in an overcrowded shelter. Thankfully we were able to get them out safely and they are thriving!

***They need to go to SEPARATE homes***

Pocus is male and approx 9 weeks old. The person that turned them over to the shelter said they are Golden Retriever and Rottie mix but we arent sure. He is currently 14.5 pounds and will likely be a larger dog full grown.

He will be given several sets of vaccines, deworming, a microchip and neuter as part of his adoption.

Pocus is a happy, spunky and super fun puppy. He loves everyone and everything and enjoys life so much. Really a fantastic personality. He is a very energetic and active puppy that needs a very active home. He is fearless and definitely needs a firm consistent owner to transform all that confidence into positive behaviors.

He loves other dogs and loves all people. He can be very rambunctious when playing so another active dog to roughhouse with would be best. He may be too much for dogs that arent playful. He easily holds his own with active dogs much larger than he is. He has never met cats but we can already see hes likely going to be too much for them.

Pocus is very loving to everyone but currently may be too much puppy for smaller kids. Hes very excitable and mouthy/jumpy when playing. Older kids and adopters that have a firm grip on working with puppy behaviors would be best.

He is doing well with his training for his young age. Hes not yet potty trained. He has figured out how to use the doggie door but hasnt yet grasped to go out to potty. He is not yet leash trained. He does decent in the crate and is getting better with it each day. He can still be vocal at times. He needs crate training from his new family. He has a hard time shutting off his play mode and needs that calm space to learn to settle. Hes been great on car rides but will try to climb in your lap if not properly restrained or crated.

Pocus has not had any issues so far with sharing food, treats or toys with humans or other dogs. He loves toys and anything active. He also loves water and playing in the kiddie pool.

He has a very high energy level. He needs structure (routine crate rests, mental enrichment, lots of play time) every day. He is a very energetic puppy. His foster says he is constantly on the go and very much in the wild, hyper, chewing puppy stage. They also said he is super sweet, hilarious and playful.

Adopters should be aware that having a wild puppy this age is a lot of work and can be frustrating. He will have accidents. He needs to be in a puppy proof area when youre not watching him as he chews things he shouldnt. He needs regular mental stimulation, enrichment, rest time, and exercise. This is not a chill couch potato. He will need a lot of supervision but put in the work now and youll have an awesome dog. Hes a sweet boy with a desire to learn and a silly sweet personality.

Adopting a young puppy is a ton of work. They will have lots of potty accidents, chew things up etc. You will need to help them learn things like leash walking, crate training and basic manners. It can be a lot of work but the reward is a dog that fits well into your familys lifestyle if you invest proper time on training with them. Please carefully consider the time and effort a puppy requires before adopting.

Home and vet checks required.
5ft or higher fenced yard required (dog parks do not count as having a fenced yard)
He's to much for a home with cats or tiny children

Located in Hampton VA.
(He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius)
