You ain't nothing but a hound dog!
Meet Trigger, a 6 month old male Redbone Coonhound mix. Trigger made his way to the shelter alongside his sister, Stella.
The pair were found a few weeks back wandering in the country, no houses in sight. We unfortunately believe they were dumped by someone who could no longer keep them, but thankfully they were found by a kind soul that took them in until the shelter had space for them.
Having been a stray, it means that we unfortunately don't know much about Trigger's past. He's been a bit nervous entering the shelter, and while he's never shown us even an ounce of aggression, he can be timid around new people. As he gets used to us, though, his playful puppy side is coming out! It is apparent that Trigger has not received much, if any, training. He is not housebroken and doesn't know any commands. He's still at a great young age to train, though, and just needs an owner with the time and patience to work with him! Being young, Trigger is going to need an active owner that can keep up with his energy requirements.
Trigger has been around other dogs and gets along great with them. At this time, we aren't sure how he would do living with cats or children. We recommend a meet and greet with any pets or kids in the home prior to adoption to make sure it is a good fit!
If you've ever owned a hound before, you know they can be stubborn as all get-out. They are actually quite intelligent dogs, but they tend to act deaf when they don't want to listen, so some people think they're not that smart. There's an ornery streak that runs in almost every hound, and it's something you should prepare for if you're considering taking Trigger home!
Trigger has received his first round of vaccinations and is ready to be in his forever home! If you think Trigger could be the pooch for you, come out and meet him today!
