You ain't nothing but a hound dog!
Meet Stella, a 6 month old female Redbone Coonhound mix. Stella made her way to the shelter alongside her brother, Trigger.
The pair were found a few weeks back wandering in the country, no houses in sight. We unfortunately believe they were dumped by someone who could no longer keep them, but thankfully they were found by a kind soul that took them in until the shelter had space for them.
Having been a stray, it means that we unfortunately don't know much about Stella's past. She is more outgoing than her brother, and pretty soon after entering the shelter was showing us all of her puppy energy and enthusiasm! It is apparent that Stella has not received much, if any, training. She is not housebroken and doesn't know any commands. She's still at a great young age to train, though, and just needs an owner with the time and patience to work with her! Being young, Stella is going to need an active owner that can keep up with her energy requirements.
Stella has been around other dogs and gets along great with them. At this time, we aren't sure how she would do living with cats or children. We recommend a meet and greet with any pets or kids in the home prior to adoption to make sure it is a good fit!
If you've ever owned a hound before, you know they can be stubborn as all get-out. They are actually quite intelligent dogs, but they tend to act deaf when they don't want to listen, so some people think they're not that smart. There's an ornery streak that runs in almost every hound, and it's something you should prepare for if you're considering taking Stella home!
Stella has received her first round of vaccinations and is ready to be in her forever home! If you think Stella could be the pooch for you, come out and meet her today!
