Yuki is a little guy with a big heart, just waiting to fill your life with love.
He's a soft, sensitive soul whose gentle nature is perfectly matched by his sweet personality and the most adorable little underbite that will steal your heart the moment you meet him. His name means "happiness and good fortune" in Japanese.

At just 2 years old and 19 pounds, Yuki is the perfect pint-sized companion. His journey hasn't been an easy one. He was facing euthanasia at a shelter in Palm Beach, Florida, before rescue stepped in and gave him the second chance he so desperately deserved.

Yuki can be a little shy when meeting new people or experiencing new situations, especially if he's in a crate or kennel, which he truly doesn't enjoy. But once he's free and begins to feel safe, it's like watching a flower bloom. His playful, affectionate personality shines through, and all he wants is to be close to the people he loves.

He enjoys leisurely walks, exploring the world one sniff at a time, and gets along well with other dogs. A calm canine companion would likely help him continue building his confidence.

Yuki does have one important behavioral quirk that his future family should understand. If he finds something he considers especially valuable, such as a discarded food wrapper, a bone, or another exciting "treasure" on a walk, he becomes very determined to keep it. In those moments, trying to take the item away from him can cause him to become defensive. Because of this, Yuki will do best with an adopter who is familiar with positive reinforcement and "trade" techniques, rather than attempting to remove items from him by force. With good management, patience, and continued training, this behavior can be safely handled, but it's important that his family is aware of it from the start.
