Hitch - Pug and Chihuahua Dog for Adoption in Portland, Oregon

My name is Hitch, my fosters call me Stitch, and I am a 3-year-old mixed breed who weighs about 22 lbs. We think I might be a combination of Frenchie, Pug, Chihuahua, and probably a few other breeds thrown in for good measure!

I came into rescue with a broken left front leg that unfortunately could not be saved, so it was amputated. But don't feel sorry for me-I have adjusted remarkably well to life as a tripod and am ready to get back to being a dog!

My foster family says I am an absolute sweetheart. I have been doing well with their dogs, cats, and pre-teen children, and apparently being this cute and charming comes very naturally to me.

Being a three-legged dog doesn't mean I need to sit around and miss out on life. I can still enjoy walks, playtime, adventures, and all the important things dogs love. I may just do them a little differently!

My future family should understand that because I rely on my remaining three legs, protecting my joints and remaining front leg will be especially important long term. Keeping me at a healthy weight, providing good traction on slippery floors, avoiding repetitive high-impact activities and excessive jumping, and using moderate, regular exercise to keep my muscles strong can all help reduce unnecessary strain. My veterinarian should also monitor my mobility as I age so any arthritis or discomfort can be addressed early.

I'm not looking for a family to treat me like I'm fragile. I'm looking for a family who understands my needs, lets me live a full life, and is willing to make a few thoughtful accommodations along the way.
