Meet Farraday, a gentle and sweet boy who is looking for a quiet place to call home. He is a trusting, easygoing companion who simply enjoys being near his people and being part of the family. While you go about your day, Farraday is happy to settle in, take a nap, or quietly listen to everything happening around him. He especially enjoys sitting by the door, feeling the sunshine and taking in the world around him.
Farraday does have significant limitations with his vision and appears to primarily distinguish light and dark. He relies heavily on his other senses, particularly his hearing, to understand his surroundings and know where his people are. He does best when he can hear you approaching so he isn't startled, and a home with a calm, predictable routine and less confusion will help him feel comfortable and confident.
Once Farraday learns the layout of his surroundings, he does remarkably well navigating them. He has learned to handle stairs and curbs by repeatedly following the same paths, and he has become more confident about going outside to do his business once he understands the routine. He enjoys exploring outdoors and walks nicely on a leash, relying on your voice and gentle guidance to help him along. His foster family enjoys a mile-long evening walk with him, where Farraday happily takes in all the interesting sounds and smells before coming home tired and ready for a good night's sleep.
Inside, Farraday has been given a smaller area to explore while he learns the household routines and boundaries. He is curious, too! On just his second evening in his foster home, he discovered the basket of dog toys, pulled it over, and proceeded to investigate all the treasures inside. He is learning how to play and even practicing retrieving a ball. Toys that make noise, such as crinkly toys, are especially appealing to him.
At night, Farraday settles happily into his crate and sleeps like a champ. He has also shown that he is a smart boy who quickly learns household routines. He recognizes the sound of the treat container and knows exactly what it means when breakfast is being prepared!
Farraday is a wonderful low-key companion who doesn't need to be the center of attention. He simply wants to know his people are nearby. He enjoys hearing you talk to him-or even just hearing you talk to someone else-because those familiar sounds reassure him that he isn't alone. If you're looking for a gentle, quiet companion who will happily spend his days by your side, Farraday may be just the boy you've been looking for.
