Meet Ozzy!
Ozzy is an 8 month old Poodle/Shih Tzu mix weighing approximately 15 pounds. While hes likely close to his full-grown size, hes still very much a puppy at heart and has so much life, love, and potential ahead of him.
Sadly, Ozzys short life hasnt always been easy. Before coming into rescue, it appears he was passed around quite a bit and never had the consistency, stability, or security that every puppy deserves. As a result, Ozzy can be a little cautious when faced with new people, places, and experiences. What he needs most is a patient family willing to show him that the world isnt such a scary place.
The beautiful thing about Ozzy is that once he trusts you, he bonds deeply. He absolutely adores his people and looks to them for reassurance and guidance. Watching him gain confidence and learn to feel safe is incredibly rewarding. Underneath his initial shyness is a sweet, loving boy who simply wants someone he can count on.
Ozzy loves other dogs and truly seems to gain confidence from having canine friends around. He is playful, enjoys interacting with other dogs, and would likely thrive in a home with another friendly, confident dog to help show him the ropes. Hes also done well with cats and may occasionally try to play with them, but overall he coexists nicely.
This handsome boy is already house trained and does a great job going potty outside. Hes also learning that walks can be fun and is doing well with leash training. Ozzy is very food motivated, which has helped tremendously with building confidence and teaching him new things. Hes eager to learn and wants to please the people he trusts.
While Ozzy doesnt love being crated, he does very well when left in a playpen or safely sectioned off area of the home. He has proven to be trustworthy in the house and is not destructive. He simply prefers having a cozy space where he can relax while waiting for his people to return.
Because Ozzy can be sensitive to new experiences, he would do best in a calmer home with children over the age of 10 who can respect his space and help him continue building confidence. He can be nervous at the groomer and veterinarian, so his future family should be prepared to continue working with him patiently and positively as he learns that these experiences are safe.
Ozzy is a truly special dog who just needs someone willing to go slow and let him blossom. The family who gives him that chance will gain an incredibly loyal companion who will love them with his whole heart.
Ozzy is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and will receive a health certificate prior to adoption. If youre looking for a sweet, sensitive companion and are willing to let a shy dog show you just how much love he has to give, Ozzy may be the perfect addition to your family.
