MEET TOBY!
About 2 years old Pomeranian Mix
Toby’s story didn’t start out the way it should have. He was dumped at Lafreniere Park, where a few of our favorite cat ladies worked together to finally catch him and get him somewhere safe. When no owner came forward during his stray hold, they asked us to bring him to Jefferson SPCA, and of course we said yes.
Once Toby came to us, one of the amazing vet techs at Wisdom Animal Hospital took him home for the weekend so we could learn a little more about what he’s like outside of a kennel. And apparently, Toby is a pretty great little houseguest!
Toby is a joyful, sweet little guy who LOVES people. He enjoys zoomies around the yard, playing with little toys, cuddling on the couch and watching the neighborhood from the window. He’ll even toss his own toys around and basically play fetch with himself!
He doesn’t bark much, sleeps happily snuggled under the covers and would probably spend all day with his person if given the choice. He may have a little separation anxiety, but he did well when left alone for periods of time and wasn’t destructive.
Toby was mostly mild-mannered with the larger dog in his weekend foster home, but he can get a little jealous over his favorite things, including food, toys and especially his humans! He may be happiest as your one and only dog, or possibly with a laid-back, easygoing canine friend.
He’s still working on potty training and basic manners. Toby was also just neutered on September 12th, so we’re hopeful some of his marking and overly enthusiastic boy behaviors will continue to improve as those hormones settle down.
Toby isn’t asking for much: toys to play with, a place for the occasional zoomie, a spot under the covers and a human of his very own to adore.
He’s already had the hard part of his story.
Come meet Toby and help us give him the happy ending.
