Eliza - Pit Bull Terrier Dog for Adoption in York, Pennsylvania

Eliza came to us after being adopted as a puppy and spending two years in a home where she unfortunately struggled to coexist with the other dog. During that time, there were multiple dog fights, and during the most recent incident, Eliza redirected onto the person attempting to break up the fight. The bite broke skin and was assessed as a Level 3 bite on the Dr. Ian Dunbar Dog Bite Scale. We want to be transparent about Eliza's history while also sharing the wonderful dog we know her to be. Eliza has never attempted to bite a person in any other situation and is otherwise a sweet, affectionate girl who loves her people. Because of her history, Eliza must be the only pet in her home. We believe that with this important management in place, she can live a happy and fulfilling life. Eliza is also a bit of a nervous nelly and will need a patient family willing to help her build confidence and feel secure. She is playful, loving, and has so much potential to thrive with a family dedicated to helping her succeed. She will only be placed in a home with children 13 years and older. We know Eliza comes with some extra considerations, but we also know she is deserving of a chance. Sometimes the dogs who need a little more understanding are the ones who have the most love to give.
