This fawn-and-white beauty is Tequila, a soft-eyed, soulful girl who is equal parts gentle and resilient. Tequila hasn't had the easiest start, and a life without consistency has left her a little unsure of the world at first. But give her just a moment (truly, about two minutes), and you'll see her guard melt away as she leans into affection and connection. She's the kind of dog who watches you closely, reads the room, and just wants to know she's safe and wanted.
Tequila is sensitive, sweet, and quietly brave. She's learning that not every new face or dog is something to worry about - and with patience and reassurance, she settles in beautifully. Once she knows you are a safe, she will harass you for snuggles every chance she gets. She is your constant reminder that rest is productive.
HISTORY
Tequila's past is largely unknown, but what we do know is that she's been bounced around and hasn't experienced much consistency or stability. She is estimated to be a 3 year old pitbull terrier, and her DOB is listed as August 15, 2022.
SOCIALIZATION
This sweet girl can be a little unsure when meeting new people and dogs, but her anxiety is mild and short-lived. Once she understands there's no threat, she relaxes quickly and becomes affectionate and accepting of others.
With dogs, she may show some reactivity at first due to uncertainty, but this improves significantly once she gets to know them. Slow introductions and calm environments are key to her success.
Tequila does not do well with cats and will need a cat-free home.
GENERAL TEMPERAMENT AND BEHAVIOR
Tequila is currently fostered with another dog and children. She does well in that setting, proving she is capable of coexisting with canine companions and kids who respect her boundaries. She LOVES the kids, and is incredibly patient with them. If there is an opportunity to snuggle, this girl is all over it!
Tequila would do best in a home that understands her anxious behavior comes from fear of the unfamiliar and is willing to continue building her confidence at her pace. Her dream humans are patient, kind, and totally okay with giving her a minute to take things in before expecting her to be social butterfly of the year.
She'd thrive in a calm, predictable home where routines are a thing and surprises are kept to a minimum (she prefers her plot twists in movies, not real life). A dog-savvy adopter who can read body language and advocate for her space will be her absolute hero. And she would like to formally request several belly rubs daily with a side of unlimited snuggles.
TRAINING
Tequila is potty trained, crate trained, and working on her leash skills with her foster mom.
HEALTH STATUS
Tequila has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites. She appears to be in good health, and weighs around 50-55. Based on available information, we've designated August 15, 2022 as her DOB.

HART's dogs are all in private homes - we do not have a facility. We will be happy to arrange for you to meet Tequila, and any of our other dogs you may be interested in, once we have approved your application to adopt.
Please note, Tequila is located in the Tri-Cities, Eastern Washington. A meet and greet is required between other dogs in the home and the whole family to ensure her comfort before going home. A meet & greet is the last step of the process to adopt through HART, we appreciate your understanding.
