Meet Slug! This handsome orange creamsicle boy is approximately 2.5 years old. Before he came to Alley Cat Project, he was living under a house with a bunch of other cats in Everett, WA. So while he’s the only cat in his current foster home, there’s a good chance he’d be right at home with another cat or two!

Coming from a feral cat colony also means he is very new to being inside with humans, so you will need to be patient with him while he gets used to the sounds and smells of your home. When he was first introduced to his current foster home, he was so shy that he spent two weeks curled up behind the toilet. The way he looked in his hiding spot was very reminiscent of a banana slug, so that’s the name that stuck. Since then, though, Slug has shown a far more dignified side (preferring to drink water from a glass instead of a bowl, constantly grooming his luxurious creamy fur) so perhaps you will choose to bestow the fellow with a fancier name. Prince Slugworth? Lord Banana? The possibilities are endless.

Once you’ve earned his trust, Slug will look to you for protection and comfort—for example, he doesn’t like to explore on his own, preferring to be sort of chaperoned around the house as if he’s a celebrity and you’re his bodyguard. And even though he’s easily spooked, he LOVES cheek scratches, and will slowly but surely start to prefer hanging out with you on the couch and sleeping with you in the bed to hiding behind the toilet. He’ll also become more playful! He loves wand toys and soft catnip toys big enough for him to grab and kick with his back legs.

If you want the warm fuzzy feeling of gaining a cat’s trust over time and enjoy wiping eye boogers on the daily, Slug might be the guy for you. Again, he’s going to start out VERY shy, so be prepared to put in a little work in the beginning; sitting with him, letting him get used to your voice, pettin’ on his cheeks, feeding him toilet Churus. This sweet and silly guy is well worth it!

What Slug is looking for in a home:

- He’s new to indoor life with humans, so he needs a kind and patient guide to help him continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers make him nervous.
- He’ll need extra time and TLC to build trust.
- He feels at ease in a quiet and calm environment.
- He needs to live indoors only.
- He has no known history with other cats.
- He has no known history with dogs.
- He has no known history with children.

All Alley Cat Project’s cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Alley Cat Project adoption fees are:

- $200 per cat or kitten
- $350 for pair of cats or kittens
- $50 for senior cat (over 8 years old)
- Flexible reduced fees for a cat with a chronic medical condition that requires ongoing care
- Additional charitable donations are appreciated and support our overall rescue efforts
