Hi, Im Dory!
But unlike the fish, I dont forget the people I love. Once youre my person, youre my person forever.
When I first came into foster care, I had no idea how to be a house dog. Toys were strange. Crates were Confusing. Couch cuddles yep Completely foreign.
Now look at me!
Im potty trained, crate trained, know commands like sit, stay, down, come, and paw, and Ive become a professional plush toy exterminator. If it squeaks... it probably wont for long.
My perfect day starts with a nice walk, followed by some backyard zoomies, maybe a hike, a little tug of war, and then Ill happily flop upside down with my goofy smile showing while I wait for belly rubs. If you let me cuddle, Ill probably lay my entire body on top of you and rest my head on your shoulder.
Im smart, adventurous, affectionate, and just independent enough to entertain myself while youre busy. But dont worry when I decide its cuddle time, Ill politely remind you with a paw and my sweetest puppy eyes.
I love playing with other energetic dogs, but cats are definitely not my thing. Im also looking for a home with older kids (13+) because fast movements make me nervous. New people take me a minute, but if youre patient Ill be melting into your lap before you know it.
My wish list:
A fenced yard for zoomies
An active family who loves adventures
Older kids or adults only
No cats
Lots and lots of plush toys to redecorate
Bonus points for a playful dog sibling
Just keep swimming. I think its time to change that.
Just keep adopting... just keep adopting... and maybe youll find me.
Because Ive already found myself.
Now Im just searching for my family.
Dory is located in Houston, TX, and shes ready for her greatest adventure yet... coming home.
