Golden Hour quietly stole our hearts when we met her at the Manhattan ACC. She had been living in a pop up crate for 3 weeks because all the kennels are full. We were told that the good dogs usually get moved into crates because they will tolerate it.

When we tried to take her out for a walk, she was reluctant to leave her crate. She looked completely defeatedher head hung low, eyes downcastbut eventually rested her head on a volunteers lap for pets.

And who could blame her? It was her second stint at the ACC. In 2021, she was surrendered with 3 other dogs and eventually adopted. But just 5 days before Christmas last year (2025), she was found stray and brought back to the shelter. When contacted, her owners refused to take her back.

Goldens gentle soul shines through all the trauma she has endured. Now safe in our foster home, she has turned into a sweet house hippo with glitter for brains (her foster moms words). Shes kind and friendly with people and dogs, super affectionate and just wants to lay aroundbasically the perfect dog for any home.

Golden Hour is fostered in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, and is available for local or out-of-state adoption as long as the adopter can travel to meet her.
