Meet King Louie Louie is 8 years young—calm, well-mannered, and enjoys walks, toys, and adventures. He’s an affectionate companion with an easygoing, “been there, done that” personality, but still enjoys strolls and playtime. His favorites include naps, snacks, toys, walks, and affection—he loves staying close for pets and attention.

He lived with his family for 8 years before ending up at Minneapolis Animal Care and Control. Due to stress and isolation there, he landed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, UnbreakaBull Pit Bull Rescue pulled him the day of his deadline, and he is now thriving in foster care.

Louie walks great on a harness and enjoys daily walks. He may get excited at the start from all the smells but settles quickly. He’s working on a looser leash and “leave it” for bunnies and squirrels. He often carries a toy the entire walk. He also enjoys yard time, where he’ll get zoomies and loves playing in garden hose water.

In the home, he is fully house-trained and non-destructive aside from his beloved stuffies. He can be left outside a crate and is a respectful, well-mannered house guest. After breakfast, he puts himself in his crate for a morning nap. He rides well in the car and enjoys pet-friendly outings like Petco or Home Depot.

His previous owners said he lived with a small dog and a cat. In foster, he currently lives with four young, energetic cats, which can be overstimulating; he often fixates on them, so a cat-free home is likely best. He would probably do ok with a very calm cat, since it is the high activity he fixates on. At Minneapolis Animal Care and Control, he participated in playgroups where he took correction well. He also did well meeting new dogs during a weekend foster stay, showing good adaptability.

Louie shows barrier reactivity when crated and seeing other dogs outside his crate, which is manageable. Outside of that context, he is comfortable around other dogs.

He is highly treat-motivated and eager to please, making training easy. He knows sit, shake, and stay, responds well to guidance, and even hops into the tub for baths. He’s also a professional cuddler who loves belly rubs and affection. With his soft coat, classic pittie ears, and happy smile, Louie is a loyal, loving shadow for the right home.
