Bullseye is a 6.5-month-old (estimated DOB January 2026), male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He is being fostered in Houston, Texas, and can transport to an approved adopter arranged by the rescue. A photo of his mom, Wanda, is included in the profile for reference. She weighs approximately 55 pounds.

This little family was rescued from the woods in a rural, well-known dumping area outside of Houston. Wanda gave birth to her litter during a Texas freeze, and a kind networker discovered her with her 2-day-old puppies. We were able to bring Mom and all six puppies to the safety of a foster home, where they've had the chance to grow up loved and cared for.

Bullseye is the strong, silent type. He's the biggest pup in the litter, but also the most introverted. While his brothers and sisters are busy causing chaos, Bullseye is usually taking it all in quietly until it's time to cuddle or join the chase.

This sweet boy loves dinnertime, belly rubs, scratches, and snuggling up with his people just as much as he loves romping around with his siblings. He's gentle, thoughtful, and has the kind of calm presence that makes you instantly fall in love. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a soft heart and an easygoing personality, Bullseye may be your perfect match.

Now an older puppy, Bullseye has the best of both worlds. He still enjoys playing, exploring, and wrestling with his siblings, but he's beginning to settle into a wonderful companion. He is potty trained, although, like any dog adjusting to a new home, a few accidents should be expected while he learns a new routine.

Bullseye is equally playful and reserved. Before jumping into the action, he often likes to sit back and watch what everyone else is doing. Once he's ready, he's happy to join in the fun, but he's just as content soaking up affection or curling up beside his favorite people.

He has been raised alongside his littermates and his mom and enjoys playing with other dogs. He has been around children and has done well but has not yet been tested with cats. He has also spent time in a crate and is continuing to build confidence with leash walking and basic obedience.

Although Bullseye is past the tiny-puppy stage, he is still very much an adolescent and is continuing to learn about the world around him. He's looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him continue to mature into an exceptional adult dog. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive.

One of the most important things for a dog this age is continued socialization. Safe, positive experiences with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs help build lifelong confidence. We love seeing our young dogs grow up with a well-adjusted canine role model in the home. A resident dog can help teach appropriate play, communication, and boundaries in ways humans simply can't replicate, so we prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Bullseye.

That said, we understand that not every home has another dog. If you don't currently have one, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization. Structured training classes, supervised daycare, regular playdates with trusted dogs, and other safe, positive experiences are all wonderful ways to help set Bullseye up for success.

Because Bullseye is still a young dog, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time. He'll continue to benefit from regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction as he grows into adulthood.

Raising a young dog takes time, patience, flexibility, and dedication, but the reward is an incredible lifelong companion who trusts you, looks to you for guidance, and grows into a confident, well-balanced dog. If you're ready for a gentle best friend with a calm spirit, loyal heart, and plenty of cuddles to share, Bullseye is ready to find his forever family.
