Ruben is quite the gentleman when it comes to his furry friends! He currently lives with four other dogs in his foster home, including a smaller Cocker Spaniel mix, and gets along beautifully with his canine roommates. He has showed wonderful social skills with dogs of different sizes, comfortably sharing toys and attention. He has a lovely way of matching another dog's energy, whether that means joining in for a game or simply enjoying their company. Ruben could happily join a multi-dog household or enjoy being someone's one and only pup!

When meeting new people, Ruben appreciates a little time to get comfortable. He may initially offer a few curious barks while figuring out who's who, but with patient introductions, his affectionate side begins to shine. He also enjoys playful interactions with his people, sometimes using his mouth during games. A family willing to encourage gentle play would be a wonderful fit, especially one with older, dog-savvy children who understand respectful introductions.

And don't let his romantic name fool you, Ruben has an adventurous side, too! With his moderate energy level, he'd make a lovely companion for daily walks, playtime, and relaxing at home. He's continuing to develop his leash manners, particularly when encountering unfamiliar people. Positive reinforcement and opportunities to practice calm greetings will help him feel increasingly comfortable during outings.

Ruben is also familiar with feline roommates! He currently shares his foster home with three cats and has shown that he can coexist with them. Sometimes his playful invitations can be a little enthusiastic, so confident, dog-savvy cats with comfortable places to retreat would be ideal. A compatible canine sibling would also be beneficial in a home with cats, giving Ruben another friend to direct his playful energy toward.

At home, Ruben is accustomed to crate routines. He may have a few things to say when first settling in, but his foster has found that a darker, cozier crate helps him relax. Apartment living could be possible depending on the environment, especially with a family willing to continue his leash training and help him adjust to shared spaces.

What makes Ruben special is his thoughtful approach to new experiences. He's a boy who likes to observe before jumping right in, but once he feels comfortable, his playful and easygoing personality takes center stage. With a family who appreciates his individuality and gives him opportunities to keep learning, Ruben has all the makings of a wonderful lifelong companion.

We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system, ensuring every pet travel safely and comfortably with 24/7 care. Our transport includes drop off locations, in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for for Canadian adopters). Before the adoption is finalized, you will meet your pet through a video call, creating a fun and personalized experience!

The adoption fee is $1200 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog's growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap - ranging from $100-$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
