There are some puppies who steal your heart the second you see them... and then there's Joel Tigre who steals it all over again the moment you get to know him. Between his striking eyes, one a beautiful icy blue and the other a soft light green, his adorable brindle patches, and his constant desire to be as close to his people as possible, this handsome boy has a way of making you forget there are any other puppies in the room. His foster's favorite thing about him? Just how incredibly cuddly he is. Honestly, we completely understand why.
Watch Joel's video and see why everyone falls in love with him: https://youtu.be/ycUrjLIqa2M?si=GLJ1VApoo7sVDLRK
At approximately 4 months old and around 30 pounds, Joel is our best guess at a Pittie/Lab mix, but with animal rescue, it's always a mystery! Whatever breeds came together to create this sweet boy, they gave him movie-star good looks, the most unique eyes, and an affectionate personality that's impossible to resist.
Joel may be a little shy and reserved when you first meet him, but don't let that fool you. Give him a little patience, a few kind words, and some gentle encouragement, and you'll quickly discover what an incredibly loving puppy he is. Once he feels comfortable, Joel transforms into the biggest cuddle bug. He loves climbing into your lap, handing out kisses, and simply being as close to his people as he can. If you're sitting on the floor, don't be surprised if Joel decides your lap is now his favorite place in the house.
While love and affection are definitely Joel's favorite things in life, he's still very much a puppy and enjoys playing too. He loves toys, enjoys treats, and is always happy to join in on a game. That being said, if Joel had to choose between chasing a toy or soaking up attention from his favorite people, he'd pick cuddles every single time.
Joel is fostered in a home with multiple dogs, including both a large dog and a smaller Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, and gets along wonderfully with everyone. He's also done great meeting new dogs and has a gentle play style that fits well with a variety of personalities. He enjoys romping around with his friends and will happily participate in a wrestling match, but he's naturally a respectful player who knows how to match the energy of the dogs around him.
He's also fostered with cats and has done beautifully. While they don't spend a lot of time interacting, Joel has always been respectful when they cross paths. He also met our house cat, Biggie, and completely melted our hearts by greeting him with the sweetest little kisses. Based on what we've seen, we think Joel has wonderful potential to live happily with feline friends.
Joel is crate trained and settles comfortably and quietly in his kennel when it's time to rest. He's still working on potty training, so his future family will need to continue building those good habits with consistency, patience, and routine as he grows. Like any puppy, he's still learning about the world around him, but he's eager to please and has all the makings of an incredible lifelong companion.
If you're looking for a puppy who's equal parts handsome, gentle, affectionate, and happiest simply being by your side, Joel is ready to become your new best friend. All he asks is for a little patience while he settles in and in return, you'll get a lifetime of cuddles, kisses, and unconditional love.
We are willing to test Joel Tigre with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.
