Maddie Magnificent has the kind of personality that becomes more entertaining the longer you spend with her. Between those enormous satellite ears, her dramatic little head tilts, and the way she quietly watches everything happening around her, she is incredibly expressive without even trying.
She's confident without needing to be the center of attention, independent without being aloof, and smart enough that we're pretty convinced she understands far more of our conversations than she lets on.
Watch her video and fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/aR8q9A6nfOo?si=RqUopDtlGXmtRbet
Maddie is approximately 3 years old, weighs around 10 pounds, and is believed to be a Yorkie mix. As always with animal rescue, breed and age are our best guesses and we can never guarantee either.
What we can tell you is that
Maddie has done wonderfully meeting dogs of all different sizes. She has absolutely no problem confidently walking up to a dog much larger than she is and giving them a sweet, appropriate hello, but once introductions are over, she's usually perfectly content to sit back and watch everyone else do their thing. She isn't looking for a wrestling partner or a dog who wants to spend all day trying to convince her to play.
If another dog gets too pushy, Maddie is comfortable appropriately telling them, "No thank you, sir," and going right back to minding her own business. A calm, respectful dog who understands personal space would likely be her speed, although we think Maddie could also be perfectly happy as the only dog soaking up the attention in her home.
She also met our house cat, Biggie, and we were really impressed with how naturally she handled him. Maddie was respectful, did not chase him, and wasn't bothered by Biggie jumping around or doing all the random things cats tend to do. Biggie seemed comfortable around her as well, which is always something we pay attention to during these introductions.
This was our first time observing Maddie with a cat and we don't know if she has ever lived with one before, so we would still recommend a thoughtful transition into a home with a feline friend. If you have a cat and would like some extra reassurance, we can arrange for Maddie to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know!
Around the house, Maddie has already shown us some pretty great manners. She is crate trained, appears comfortable settling in her crate, and has not had any accidents so far. But one of our favorite things about her is how convinced we are that this girl understands exactly what "outside" and "go potty" mean. Say either one and she immediately looks at you with the most dramatic little head tilt. Naturally, you say it again just to test your theory, and then she gets excited and trots her happy little butt straight to the door. Between the ears, the head tilt, and those tiny legs moving with purpose, it's ridiculously cute every single time.
We are willing to test Maddie Magnificent with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready.
