Emelia - Pit Bull Terrier Dog for Adoption in Columbus, Ohio

Emelia is in URGENT need of a FOSTER HOME!

Emelia came to our door with an obviously injured leg. We took her straight to COVE in Clintonville, where radiographs confirmed our thoughts- she needs her front leg amputated. We do not have any background information on her, but we are guessing her to be 6-8 years old. She is spayed but not microchipped. She looks to have been spayed later in her life due to the size of her nipples; she may have had at least one litter in the past. She was very well behaved for her x-rays and blood draw- she did not have to be sedated at all.

She seems to have had some sort of soft tissue injury that developed into some cellulitis on that leg. Due to permanent calcification and self-trauma to the leg, an amputation is recommended. She also had chest radiographs done and one of her lymph nodes aspirated to rule out cancer. Luckily, they came back clear, and she is healthy otherwise.

As we did not plan on taking in another dog to our rescue, we do not have a foster home for her at this time. Emelia is in need of an immediate foster home so that she can settle in before having surgery. We have not dog- or cat-tested her due to her injury. She did see several dogs while at the vet office and seemed friendly towards them. She is approximately 45 lbs.
