Pit Bull Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption in Chicago, Illinois

This smile is the whole enchilada.
Brunaldi had a hard week after being surrendered. He was sad, confused, and he didn’t know where he was. He didn’t want to leave his kennel and would sit like a statue outside. He did except pets and kind words. Each day we saw Brunaldi open a little more. On day 11 we saw his smile and it was better than anything imagined. Brunaldi has a bounce to his walk when he is around volunteers he knows. We think his heartbreak will lead to a much better life. We just need to find a home that won’t kick him out because of life changes like having children.

Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.

All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.

All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers).

We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
