If you are looking for a walking buddy, Barney is your guy! He loves to get out of the kennel and go on a nice long stroll. He is fabulous on leash and doesn’t get excited when he sees other dogs.

At around 4-5 yo, he is past the antics of a youngster but he still has a playful side and will crawl in your lap and take all the butt scratches and belly rubs you have to give him.

He equally enjoys time in the yard and playing with ALL the toys. He has done well with another playful dog and would be better with older kids in the home because of him being a beefy boy.

Check him out and see all the love he will have for you .

Barney is a beefy boy and he was so excited to finally get out of the kennel. He was very friendly and sweet with us; overall he was happy to just hang out and roll over for belly rubs. He is lot of muscle he has been doing really well on a Halti harness and walks well once we get him over the initial excitement. He did have a little bit of gastrointestinal distress the first day we met him so we ordered a fecal and everything came back negative

Teeth - light yellow and very clean
Body condition - in nice shape body score wise with ribs slightly showing. Does have some staining on his front paws consistent with licking and a little bit of elbow rough spots. Has some hair loss inside of his back legs. Nails need to be trimmed.
Touch - he was very receptive to petting and didn’t mind us touching him all over. Loves belly rubs and to climb in your lap.
Walking/Leash - strong on slip leash. Pulls when walking, but settles down when you start. We have started walking him on a Halti harness and he has been doing really well and enjoying getting out for longer walks.
Treats - very treat motivated and jumps for them, but if you tell him to sit and be gentle, he does much better.
Dogs - Barney is very calm when he sees dogs at a distance. He met our deaf Pittie girl, Tori, and did well with her. She was very comfortable with him and playful. He was very interested in her and was reciprocating her playful energy. He was putting paws on her which she did not mind. Tori likes to jump around a lot which caused some tangled leashes, but they played right through it while we got everything untangled.
Cats - barney Met tester kitty Rosie. He probably hasn’t seen cats before and wasn’t really that interested when she was still in the carrier. He was much more interested when she was out of the carrier and did jump up on the cat tree, but he also was easily redirected and often disengaged on his own. He could easily be in a sit/stay while we petted Rosie. We think he would do well with appropriate intros and acclimation.

Our application: https://laststoprescue.com/adoption-app/

If you're interested in donating, sponsoring or volunteering please visit us at www.LastStopRescue.com or follow us on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/Laststoprescue.il
We treat these dogs as individuals with needs and to that end all of our dogs will have been in fosters no less than two weeks, they will have at least started training if not attend weekly classes and get daily training at home with the fosters!

Which means our longest residents will be the best trained, as long as they're with us we're going to keep socializing and working through any issues they may have.

When you adopt from us you will have a very clear picture of the dog you're meeting and on going support!

Our Fees are as follows:
Senior dogs over 7 are $450
Adult dogs are $650
Puppies under 1 year are $800
Specific breeds are $900

With each adoption you will be...
1. Given up to four hours of free training (from the foster and coordinator),
2. Full medical report of all findings,
3. All of the supplies needed for a new dog as we attain these for the care of each dog,
4. A full run down on their behavioral status, where they started, where they are and how far is left to go. This will be detailed in a training plan from us about what they can or cannot handle well and it will be discussed as much as needed.

We fully vet all of our dogs which is reflected in our adoption fee. On average we will pay about 600 dollars in medical per dog. Every dog gets a full blood panel, fecal/urine check, heartworm & tick panel and treatment if required, spayed/neutered, all shots and boosters, along with anything specific to their needs.
