*Woof* I'm in a foster home! Email my foster caregiver to meet me: jason.blosnich@gmail.com
A Little Bit About Me- I’m Granite, a 70-pound sweetheart whose world has been turned upside down. I was originally adopted from HRA as a tiny puppy, and now I’m back at the shelter through no fault of my own. While I’m doing my best to adjust, what I truly need is a loving, supportive forever home to help my heart heal.
Why I’m the Bestest Boy- I recently went on a couple field trips and even had a sleepover, and my new friends had nothing but amazing things to say about me:
The Perfect Houseguest: I appear to be potty trained and I already know my "sit" command. I’m a world-class snuggle bug who loves being the "little spoon".
Leash Legend: I walk very nicely on a leash – no pulling or tugging, unless I spot another dog. But even then, I’m easily distracted by treats. I’m perfect for someone who wants long, sniffy walks at a leisurely pace.
Adventure Buddy: I love riding in the car! While I can be a little timid with tricky footing on hikes, I’m a brave boy with a little coaxing.
My Ideal Home- At 9 years young, the noise of the kennel is a bit stressful for me, and I’m a little confused about why I’m no longer in a home. I am a chill, smart, and observant companion who is just happy to be where you are. I’m looking for a home that offers routine, kindness, and plenty of cozy spots to nap.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Pit Bull Terrier is a resilient and loyal breed known for its muscular build and loving nature. Originally bred for bull baiting and later dog fighting, Pit Bulls today are beloved family pets cherished for their gentle temperament and playful personality. With proper training and socialization, Pit Bull Terriers make affectionate companions that thrive on human interaction. Recognized for their strength and agility, these dogs require regular exercise and mental stimulation to channel their energy positively, reinforcing their reputation as devoted and trainable pets.
We are DC's only open-access shelter. We are always available to help any animal in the District of Columbia. We have cats, dogs, rabbits, and more available for adoption out of our two shelters and also run the Capital Area Spay and Neuter Center.
