Pit Bull Terrier and Blue Lacy Dogs Available for Adoption in Friendswood, Texas

RUBY BLUEBIRD BABE

Pit Bull Terrier, Blue Lacy
🇺🇸
Friendswood, Texas
May 13th
female, medium, young

DESCRIPTION

Ruby feels like the kind of dog who came out of the factory pre-loaded with “good dog” software. Pretty? Extremely! Smart? Absolutely! Easy to live with? Her foster gives a resounding yes! At just about a year old and 46 lbs, Ruby is playful, social, respectful, affectionate, and wonderfully balanced all at once. She has a gorgeous blue-gray, speckled coat that turns heads immediately, but it is her steady, easygoing nature that really sticks with you. Rescue rules apply, so breed and age are our best guess, but we suspect there may be some staffie and blue lacy type goodness mixed in there somewhere.

Ruby is currently fostered in a loving home with two dogs, a cat, and regular kids ranging from 6 to 14 years old visiting and her foster shares that she has settled beautifully into house-dog life. She is house-trained, crate-trained and has proven herself to be incredibly adaptable and well-rounded. She loves people and greets with affection and full enthusiasm, happily soaking up pets and attention whenever offered. One of the things noted repeatedly about Ruby is how well she handles stimulation. New environments, busy playgroups, dogs with big personalities, lots going on around her… Ruby takes it in stride.

With other dogs, Ruby shines. She has wonderful social skills and plays confidently without being overbearing. She can absolutely enjoy rough-and-rowdy play, but she also reads the room well and respects boundaries. If another dog becomes too much for her, she gives appropriate little corrections without escalating, then either returns to play or takes a moment for herself. Honestly, that kind of social intelligence in a young dog is pretty impressive. She shared toys well, shared affection from handlers well, and even handled chaotic dog energy with remarkable patience. Her ideal dog friend would probably be another playful, medium-energy dog who enjoys interaction but also knows when to settle.
Ruby also lives with a cat and has done well overall. According to her foster, she can be playful and curious with the cat and may occasionally annoy him with her enthusiasm, so a dog-savvy or more confident cat would likely be the best fit. She has never shown harmful intent, just youthful “please play” energy.

She has also spent time around children of multiple ages and reportedly loves interacting and playing with them. Ruby feels like the kind of dog who genuinely enjoys being included in everyday family life, whether that means walks, backyard play, couch time, or simply supervising household activity like a tiny blue-gray fun-manager.

On leash, Ruby already has a nice foundation and responds well to guidance, though like many young dogs she still benefits from continued practice and enrichment. Her foster noted that if her mental and physical energy needs are not met, she can get a little wild in that classic young-dog way, but overall she settles nicely indoors and is not overwhelming or chaotic in the home.

Ruby would likely thrive in a variety of homes, including an apartment with an active family committed to outings and enrichment. She has the versatility so many people are looking for- social without being reckless, playful without being nonstop, affectionate without being clingy, and confident without being pushy. Honestly, she just seems like a gorgeous and very good dog to do life with.

Ruby Bluebird is ready to find the family lucky enough to call her theirs. Apply today!
