Groundhog is the definition of a Super sweet soul and a full time lover! He is a total social butterfly who has never met a stranger seriously, he thinks every human he meets is just a best friend he hasn’t boogied for yet. He is the ultimate velcro companion who lives for connection; his favorite thing in the world is to walk up and lean his whole weight into you, burying his head in your lap to make sure you know he’s right there by your side.

We think this handsome, unique coated fella is a Pitbull mix, weighing in at a perfectly yet sturdy 47 lbs. He is a big dog with an even bigger heart! He’s small enough to believe he is a lap dog and who are we to tell him otherwise. Like all rescue superstars, his breed mix is a bit of a guess, but we’ve confirmed he is 100% purebred Good Boy! And about that tongue! It is truly the main event; a massive, happy pink marvel that is constantly unfurled, showcasing his pure joy. When it comes to Groundhog, the forecast is always "Tongues out! even when the sun isn't out, it’s still out because he’s just a happy guy!

Groundhog is currently thriving in a loving foster home, where he has officially claimed the title of Master of the House! He is currently getting all the best social practice, as he is fostered with an older dog, a small dog, and even a cat! According to his foster family, his absolute best quality (besides that adorable tongue!) is his incredible goofiness he is a total comedian who keeps everyone laughing. He is a super affectionate, hang out kind of guy who loves the comforts of home life and soaking up every single head rub he can get. He’s a sensitive, sweet gentleman who tackles every day with a wagging tail and a heart full of joy!

Groundhog is a true friend to all dogs, and his fan club comes in every single size, from the teeny tiny littles to the big besties! He has a very sweet, thoughtful way of making friends sometimes he likes to pause for a second to read the room, almost as if he’s thinking back and wondering, "Wait, have we met? Are we best friends yet?" But don't worry, even if you’re a new face, Groundhog decides the answer is always Yes! He isn't much of a high octane wrestler; he’s more of a chill vibes kind of guy who would be best paired with a low to medium energy dog. That being said, he is also perfectly happy to be your one and only star and soak up all the attention himself!


What about the feline friends? Groundhog is a bit of a shy guy when it comes to kitties! We can arrange a kitty slumber party (overnight with a cat) to see if he’d be willing to share a spot on the couch with a tiny tiger. It’s the best way for us to know if they can be besties!

His dream home includes a fenced in yard where he can zoom, "boogie," and sunbathe to his heart’s content while he builds up his confidence on the leash. He’s looking for a family that understands that the best things in life are worth a little extra love and patience. Once he knows he’s home, he’ll be burying his head into you for snuggles every single day!

We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system, ensuring every pet travels safely and comfortably with 24/7 care. Our transport includes drop off locations, in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for for Canadian adopters). You will have the opportunity to track their journey in real time, see photo updates, learn fun facts, connect with fellow adopters and fosters through our private Facebook event page!
Before the adoption is finalized, you will meet your pet through a video call, creating a fun and personalized experience!
The adoption fee is )1,200.00 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
