Meet Dandelion 🌼
This 60 lb pittie/American bulldog mix is the definition of resilience and quiet strength. Dandelion’s story didn’t start easy—we rescued her after she was dumped on the streets of Detroit in absolutely heartbreaking condition. She was suffering from pyometra, a life-threatening infection, and her eyes were painfully swollen shut from severe double entropion.
When we found her, a storm was rolling in, and she had taken shelter in an abandoned garage... just laying there, as if she had given up. But Dandelion had so much more life ahead of her—we just had to show her.
It didn’t take long to get her safe, and from that moment on, everything changed.
Today, you would never guess what she’s been through. Dandelion is gentle, loving, and so incredibly grateful for the simple things—a warm home, a cozy couch, and a soft place to land. Her medical struggles are behind her now, and she’s ready to start the best chapter yet: finding her forever family.
Dandelion is currently fostered with other dogs (and even a cat!) and truly thrives with canine companions. Other dogs give her confidence, help her feel safe, and she absolutely adores them—she would do best in a home with a furry sibling.
She’s been an angel in her foster home—fully house-trained with zero accidents. She loves all people but definitely has a soft spot for men... a true “dad’s girl” at heart, looking for someone kind and steady to make her feel safe forever.
Because of her past, Dandelion can struggle a bit with separation anxiety. She’s learned how good people can be, and she simply doesn’t want to lose that again. A home where someone is around more often than not would help her continue to feel secure and loved.
She’s currently in a home with kids, but their fast movements can sometimes make her nervous. With her gentle, shy nature, we think she would do best in a quieter home with older children—or no kids at all. Right now, it’s her turn to be the baby.
Dandelion has already survived so much. Now she’s just waiting for someone to show her that she’s home—for good this time.
Every dandelion starts as a wish—she’s just waiting for hers to come true.
