LORABELLE

Patterdale Terrier Fell Terrier, Wirehaired Terrier
🇨🇦
Abbotsford, British Columbia
October 5th
female, medium, adult

DESCRIPTION

Lorabelle is a beautiful 2 year old Patterdale/Wired Hair Terrier mix who weighs about 35 lbs. She is a soulful girl who has overcome a difficult beginning and is now looking for something every dog deserves-a home committed to her for life.

Lorabelle was rescued as a young puppy after being found living tethered outside with little to no food, water, or proper care. She came into rescue, blossomed in foster care, and eventually found what everyone hoped would be her forever home.

Unfortunately, after nearly a year in her adopted home, Lorabelle was returned following a serious incident involving one of the family's small dogs. The home had multiple dogs freely roaming throughout the house, and the incident occurred when the dogs were unsupervised. Lorabelle has a strong prey drive, so she must never live with small animals. This is a very important part of her adoption requirements.

We believe Lorabelle may live successfully with one compatible, submissive dog who enjoys playing a little rough and is not reactive. However, a home with multiple dogs may cause her to become overstimulated and increase her reactivity. She will need thoughtful introductions, close supervision, structure, and an adopter who understands dog behavior and is committed to managing her safely.

Lorabelle is a high-energy young dog who still has plenty of puppy left in her! She would thrive with an active family who enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, playtime, and keeping a busy dog mentally and physically engaged. A securely fenced yard is a must.

She is a sweet girl who wants to be loved, but she does need continued work and training. She can get overly excited and jumpy, so no small children. Older, dog-savvy kids who can help her burn off some of that youthful energy may be a good fit.

Lorabelle is smart and eager to please, and with consistency, positive reinforcement, and an active lifestyle, we believe she can continue to become the wonderful companion we know she can be.

One other important update: after adoption, Lorabelle tested lightly heartworm positive. She has started slow-kill treatment and will be retested in approximately six months to monitor her progress.

Lorabelle is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations.

This girl doesn't need someone looking for a perfect dog. She needs someone willing to see the good dog underneath the overexcited, energetic exterior and give her the structure, training, exercise, and patience she needs to succeed.

If you're an active household looking for a loyal, fun-loving terrier mix and you're ready to put in the work, Lorabelle may be the girl you've been waiting for.
