Gertie II - Papillon and Shih Tzu Dog for Adoption in Houston, Texas

Meet Gertie! Your Little Shadow and Snuggle Buddy! .....located in Houston, TEXAS

Papillon & Shih Tzu Mix
Weight: 15lbs
Estimated birthday: 9/1/2023

Gertie has a whole lot of love packed into her little body! This sweet girl is happiest when she’s close to her people and would love nothing more than to be your favorite cuddle companion.

Gertie is a true little lovebug who enjoys curling up on the couch, snuggling under the blankets, and showering her favorite humans with kisses. She loves being around her people and will happily follow you from room to room just to keep you company.

But don’t let her love of cuddles fool you...Gertie has a playful side, too! She enjoys playing and wrestling with other dogs and is friendly with dogs of all sizes, although she especially enjoys playmates closer to her own size. She walks so well on a leash and does enjoy canine friends, but could be a solo pet as well.

I little run down of our adorable girl... crate training: About 90% there! She’ll go into her crate on her own for a treat but may cry for the first 10 minutes before settling down. Cats and children: She hasn’t been introduced to either yet, so we don’t know how she would do.

Gertie would love a home where she can be part of the family and enjoy plenty of affection, companionship, and cozy snuggle time. If you’re looking for a small companion with a big heart who will happily keep your lap warm and your days filled with kisses, Gertie might just be your girl!

*We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.

*Our adoption fees are based on the vetting we put into each dog. Fees for puppies (under 12 months) are higher because they require more vetting than dogs over 1 year.

*Listed breed and age are based on a best guess estimation by rescue and veterinary staff; DNA tests are not included in adoption.

*Our adopters are eligible to receive 50% off training with Curbed Behaviors Dog Training for programs booked within 30 days of adoption, and 25% off programs booked within 60-90 days of adoption.

*All of our adopters are invited to join our “Alum Pupdates” Facebook group, to share their story and their adorable pup with fellow Sunnyside Street Dogs adopters!
