Ensalada is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet her during open hours!
Ensalada is one special dog that has captured the hearts of all our staff and volunteers! She arrived back in April with her eight, 3-week-old pups. Ensalada and her puppies were in rough shape, but that never dampened her spirit or her love of her puppies, which she REALLY loves her puppies! Over the last 2.5 months Ensalada has come a long way and is now healthy and ready to find the best home!
Ensalada has the most soulful eyes and endearing personality that melts anyone's heart that meets her She simply just wants to be loved and give love unconditionally. She is our resident office dog and anytime staff comes in she gently gets up from her bed and greets us with a wagging tail, happy eyes, and the sweetest licks. Ensalada really loves to be with her people and is working on learning how to be alone, which she has been doing well with her training plan! Ensalada is housebroken and walks beautifully on leash. She spent a few days in a foster home and here is what her foster mom had to share about her.
"She is so sweet, carefee and loving! Ensalada loves giving kisses and getting pets and hugs. She walks so nice on a leash outside. Her face scrunches up and ears go up when she sees other dogs, people, or squirrels, but she doesn't bark or pull on the leash. She takes treats well from any of us."
If you are looking for a dog that just wants to shower you with love, Ensalada is your perfect match! We hope you will come and meet her to see why everyone at Heartland is in love with her!
Ensalada's adoption fee is $300. This animal is spayed and up to date on core vaccines.
Ensalada is Heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment with us. Heartland will cover the cost of treatment until she is Heartworm negative.
Heartworm disease is common in dogs throughout the United States. It is a mosquito-borne disease and is not contagious to humans or other pets.
If left untreated, heartworm infection can cause death due to lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs of the body.
However, her Heartworm infection was identified and is being treated, and the prognosis is excellent.
Heartworm disease is both preventable and curable. Once cured, a normal quality of life can be expected. It is important for all dogs to stay on lifelong Heartworm prevention, as even Heartworm positive dogs can be reinfected at any time if not current on preventions.
Ensalada is in her injection stage (she has completed her first injection and the final two will be on 7/7 and 7/8). All treatments will take place at our shelter with our veterinarian.
That will complete the treatment, but she will need a quick retest at the adopter's vet 9 months post-treatment to make sure that she is Heartworm-free.
