Hazel is such a goofy girl! She loves cuddles, being the center of attention, and still very much believes she is a lap dog.
She knows her basic commands, including sit, wait, lay down, and paw, and she recently learned “drop it,” which has been especially helpful for teaching her that her outside toys need to stay outside. She is a smart girl.
Hazel goes on daily walks and does wonderfully on leash. She is also doing amazing with parallel walks and even playing on leash with another dog. She has no issues during her walks aside from the occasional squirrel or rabbit that she feels absolutely needs to be chased. She has a great appetite and eats without any issues.
Hazel is still working on feeling comfortable in her crate. She currently doesn’t enjoy being in there for more than about 5–10 minutes, so we are taking things slowly and continuing to make it a positive experience. We leave the crate door open and regularly put enrichment activities and treats inside to encourage her to view it as a safe and comfortable space rather than something negative.
She is fully house trained and does wonderfully when left home alone.
She loves her people, loves being included, and wants nothing more than to be near you, preferably sitting on you, because apparently personal space is not a thing when you are Hazel!
