Hi! I’m Rocky, and I’m pretty sure I’m about to rock my way right into your heart!

I’m a 11-month-old pup with big brown eyes, about 60 pounds of love and joy, and I’m ready to share it all with my forever person!

For the past six weeks, I’ve been part of Paws on the Block, Foothill Dog Rescue’s partnership with Folsom State Prison. Here, I live and train alongside dedicated incarcerated handlers who provide me with daily training, enrichment, structure, and lots of individual attention while I wait for my forever home.

So, who better to tell you about me than the people who spend every day by my side? My handlers say I’m a GREAT cuddler. When I’m not cuddling up against you or enjoying some belly rubs, one of my favorite things to do is exercise. I love going for walks and runs, playing fetch, and getting out to explore. Apparently, I also have quite the curiosity about birds! Between you and I those things move kind of strangely, and magically make their way into the sky.

I really enjoy playing with other dogs, too. Occasionally, my dog friends decide they’re done playing before I do. I’m not sure why, there’s still so much playing left to do!

My handlers also say I’m very smart and learn commands quickly, especially when tasty treats are involved. And they’re right, I LOVE to learn! I’d benefit from a family who will continue giving me structure and training, and I think taking a training class together could be pretty fun, too.

Now, I am still only a young guy, so sometimes my enthusiasm gets the best of me. I can get a little overexcited and may jump up when I’m really happy. Oopsie! I’m working on it.

After all the walking, running, fetching, learning, and playing is done, though, I’m perfectly happy settling in beside my person with a chew toy. One of my handlers wrote that when you’re having a long day, “I will be there to help you ease the stress of the day, as your loyal friend and companion.”

And another said that I "can’t wait to come to you to explore all the fun and excitement I would bring to your family.”

I think they know me pretty well. So, if you’re looking for a smart, loving, playful pup who’s ready for walks, fetch, cuddles, belly rubs, continued learning, and plenty of adventures...I'm your guy!

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
