DESCRIPTION

Meet Sheldon!

Approximately 1 year old | Australian Shepherd mix l 45 pounds

A handsome face & a whole lot of potential!

Sheldon came to us as a stray and was never reclaimed. He's incredibly people friendly and loves making new human friends!

Although his past is a mystery, we strongly suspect Sheldon spent most of his life living outside. When he arrived, his coat was covered in burrs and severely matted. Those tangles were likely painful, so he needed to be shaved down to get comfortable again. Just wait until that handsome coat grows back!

Friendly and outgoing with people
Smart, eager to learn, and very food motivated
Likely needs guidance with house training
Expected to do well with respectful children
Has not shown interest in making dog friends
Not yet tested with cats

Sheldon will likely need some help adjusting to life inside a home. With a consistent schedule, patience, and positive reinforcement, we expect he'll make great progress. His love of treats should certainly help!

While Sheldon loves human company, he hasn't seemed interested in making dog friends here at the shelter. We don't know what experiences may have shaped that behavior, but finding a home that respects his needs will be important. We haven't tested him with cats yet, though we suspect he may have a similar reaction. We'll update once we know more!

Based on his friendly demeanor with people, we expect Sheldon to do well with respectful kiddos.

This handsome young boy has so much life ahead of him and deserves a family willing to help him learn, settle in, and enjoy being part of a loving home.
