Behavior:
Per volunteer 6/15: Onomatopoeia was so happy to see me when I approached his kennel on Monday, he couldn't contain his excitement. It just took an extra couple seconds to leash him, because he was all wiggly.
Once leashed, he comes right out, but
in the aisle he jumped on me, purely out of excitement, not aggression. I couldn't blame him because he didn't even have a walksheet, so he hadn't been out with a volunteer in several days.
Walking outside, he was still very excited, spinning around me, and jumpy.
He was so happy just to get out and explore, but once he knew I had hot dogs that's about all he concentrated on. I don't think he knows sit at least he wasn't sitting when I asked him. And he can be very frisky, taking treats, so open palm works best.
He thoroughly enjoyed pets, and allowed a lot of all over handling, though he could barely stop moving, he was so happy and excited. I don't recall I had any issues returning him to his kennel. He's absolutely adorable and was just so delighted to be outside.
On 6/16 staff noted: I took Onomatopoeia out for his dog meet. He was easy to leash once he settled, he was very wiggly and excited while walking through kennels. When we got outside he sniffed around and saw another dog in the distance. He made excited "chirping sounds", had low tail wags and was very wiggly. I was able to redirect him to follow me and I brought him over to the fence to meet Jax. He was wiggly at the fence with soft eyes and fast, mid level wags. He sniffed Jax through the fence. Jax's handler brought him into the yard and he came face to face with Jax for a moment. They had a brief, appropriate face greeting. Jax then began smelling Onomatopoeia's rear and he was very tolerant of this. He then went to smell Jax and they both smelled each other and circled appropriately. They disengaged and then re-engaged with the same appropriate energy. He would continuously check in with me and continue on his way.
On 6/12 staff noted: In a surgery side bank. Was barking at Marco when I was getting him out and putting him back. He was pushing her muzzle into the kennel bars while barking. Saw him a few minutes later in exam room and he was loose and wiggly.
