Meet Fergie (ACCT-A-180364), a total sweetheart who is ready to find her forever family!
Fergie has been at the shelter twice before, but was most recently surrendered on April 17th due to her family's living situation changing. Called Hazel by her most recent owner, Fergie is a funny, smart, and incredibly affectionate companion. Whether she is curling up for some quality cuddle time or engaging in a fun game of fetch with her favorite tennis ball, she is always happiest when she is spending time with her people. She is a social butterfly who is known for being super friendly with everyone she meets, including adults and children.
Fergie has a wonderful personality and is described by those who know her as a very happy, playful girl. She is housebroken, knows several commands - including sit, stay, come, down, and paw - and is always eager to show off how smart she is for a tasty treat!
She has a great zest for life and loves exploring the outdoors, playing with toys, and napping after a good play session. Fergie has also shown that she is a social explorer who gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Because she is such an active and engaged girl, she would thrive in a home that offers her plenty of love, some room to play, and lots of opportunities for fun activities.
If you are looking for a loyal, cuddly, and playful friend to join your adventures, Fergie is waiting to meet you! Come by and say hello to this delightful girl today.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per owner surrender notes 4/17/2026: Lived with adults and a tween 10-12 years old. Medium energy, likes some playtime but happy to chill. Walks calmly with no pulling, walked twice daily for 30-45 minutes. Fully housebroken, almost never has accidents. Not crate trained. Knows her name, sit, down, no, off, stay, wait, drop it, and leave it. Enjoys rope toys, balls, squeaky toys, and kongs. Favorite activities include exploring outdoors, fetch, tug-of-war, walks, napping, hanging out with owners, playing with kids, independent toy play, being petted, and getting a bath. Super friendly with strangers, children, other dogs, and cats. Ignores wildlife. Ideal home is a family with a yard or place to walk. She is smart, loves to cuddle and play.
Per owner 4/14/2026: Need to surrender due to living situation changing. Funny, cuddly, smart. Loves walks and people, cuddles, playing with her toys. No behavioral or medical concerns. She is absolutely great.
Per volunteer 8/3/2025:
Kennel presentation: Fergie had her paws up at the front of her kennel. Loose body, mid tail wags, soft eyes. She did some excited whining and barking. I opened the kennel door and she patiently allowed me to leash her.
Leash skills: minimal pulling, once outside she went to the bathroom right away. She seems to be trying to stay housebroken but may need a refresher. Once outside she sniffed and explored around.
Sociability: allows all handling. Remained loose and wiggly with handling, gave mid tail wags and had soft eyes. She occasionally checks in with her handler. Knows sit and paw. Takes treats nicely out of your hands. Does try to jump on you but can be redirected with treats.
Play and toys: Interested in toys. Took possession of toys and would trade for treats. Not as interested in play as she rather play with toys.
Returning to kennel: Did not want to return to kennel. Pulled back on leash, had to put a foot in the kennel to walk in. When offered treats she did not take any even when thrown into her kennel.
Per staff 8/3/2025: Fergie was very social with the other dogs. She was playful, gentle/dainty, steerable, and appropriate. She also gave space when necessary. Could use her as a helper/greeter.
Per owner surrender notes 8/2/2025: Surrendering due to moving to a place with a no pet policy. High energy, playful, loves toys and cuddles, good with dogs and kids. Lives with adults and an infant. Housebroken, crate trained, knows sit, stay, come, and down. Slight pull on leash. Reacts with excitement toward strangers and children. Playful with dogs. Cat history unknown. Favorite toys are tennis balls. Ideal home is an active family with a place to play and get energy out.
Per staff 11/14/2024: Took Fergie out with a volunteer yesterday - she was a ball of energy. She pulled strongly on leash and was eager to get out of her kennel. She solicited attention once outside and chased the ball for a good 10 minutes. She would trade for another tennis ball each time she returned it. After playing, we walked her around and she was less energetic and walked calmer on leash.
Per staff 11/12/2024:
Kennel Presentation: Fergie was on the backside and came running to the front when the handler called her. When the handler showed her the leash she was wiggling and a bit nervous of the leash but allowed the handler to place it over her head without issue.
Leash Skills: Pulled moderately.
Handling: In the room Fergie was friendly with all staff members and even did well when two new people entered the room. She was very wiggly in the room and would solicit attention from all handlers. She allowed all over handling without any issues and continued to wiggle around and greet everyone. She takes treats gently and showed knowledge of sit and paw.
Play: Engaged in play, high energy!
Toys: Released willingly.
Color Level & Any Recommendations: Gold.
