DESCRIPTION

Meet Georgie (ACCT-A-250098)! This sweet boy is a sensitive soul who has made incredible progress during his time with us. He was matted, overwhelmed, and nervous when he first arrived and has som since blossomed into a social and affectionate companion.

Once Georgie feels comfortable, his true personality shines. He solicits pets and is loose and wiggly, leaning right into your legs to show his appreciation. Georgie is looking for a patient home that will give him the time to settle in and reward them with a lifetime of love.

Behavioral Notes
Per staff 5/20: Less dodgy of the leash today. Brought out for a dog meet with Rosie Perez. Georgie was had good greetings and moved away on his own. While in the hallway multiple people passed by and he showed some interest in greeting them. We went out for a walk, he pulled through the building and immediately went to the bathroom when we arrived outside. I crouched down and he came over and allowed all handling. Went back in his kennel with minimal hesitation.

Per staff 5/20: Georgie was at the front of the kennel with soft eyes, ears to the side and mid tail wagging. He dodged the leash at first, once on he came right out of the kennel without hesitation. He pulled through the building to outside. Once outside he immediately went to the bathroom. I brought him back inside to hang in the behavior office for some down time. He sniffed around at first, checking out the office. I crouched down and he came over soliciting pets, pretzeling with soft eyes, loose body and mid tail. After petting he would do a shake off and the come over again leaning into my legs. Going back to his kennel he hesitated a little, then went in. I was able to removed leash with hand.

Per staff 5/14: Not taking meds. I tried cheese, cream cheese, hotdog, meatball, bacon flavored whipped cream, peanut butter. It doesn't seem like he's eaten anything since getting here.

Per staff 5/14: Medical asked if I could help bring Georgie to the exam room. He was sitting in the back part of the crate trembling and eyes darting. I tossed treats in and he sniffed them but did not eat them. When I first presented the leash he barred his teeth and gave a low short growl. I was able to lasso him and used light leash pressure to come out, once he stepped out of the crate he walked all the way to the exam room. He did a shake off and then sat next to me. Allowed gentle short pets. Used a blanket to wrap around him to pick up. When the doctor went to try to clip some of the mats he began to move back and wiggle. He walked all the way back to his crate and went in without issues, I slowly loosened the leash and was able to remove it with my hand.

Per staff 5/13: He is a little snappy when you try to pick him up. Removed from the porch. With matted fur.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
