Hallie is ready to find her family- the right family...... she is beautiful and many will be interested based on looks alone. While we certainly understand this as she is stunning, a great size and quite unique in appearance, she is not a pup who is going to come running and great you with kisses- she may not come to you at all at the start.
She was a stray for quite some time so she missed some socialization windows that have left her shy and reserved with new humans. Once she gets settled in, which may take weeks, she will be your sidekick. Everything inside the house is new to her including her reflection. She can be a vocal girl and will sass and talk at you, likely some husky or a chatty breed in her DNA. Hallie will need an adopter who will give her time to decompress in a new environment, be extremely patient and gradually expose her to the world she has never seen.
Hallie is not a big fan of the crate, though we are slowly progressing. She does well crated overnight with the crate in the room with her foster parents but not pleased at all to be crated and left alone.
Hallie has puppy level energy and everything is a toy including shoes, wires, etc. She loves to chew. Please be prepared for the puppy stage and to dedicate time to basic training.
Hallie loves other dogs and is very playful with them. If you are looking for a snuggly and cuddly dog at first meet - this is NOT your dog. She is very timid, she will lay in the room you are in but prefers to lay under your bed, in an open crate in your room or on the ground on a blanket. If youre expecting pets and belly rubs, patience and time will get you there. She prefers the dogs to humans at the start so another confident and friendly dog in the home is preferred.
Hallie is doing fantastic with potty training in a foster home with a fenced in yard and doggy door. She has not been leash trained yet, the alligator roll was our first clue. Her foster mom is having her wear and drag the leash to gradually get used to it. Hallie is very food motivated, doesnt mind thunder and has made great progress in her foster home over a short amount of time. Hallie wants to trust humans and be loved... it will just take time.
Things we are looking for in her furever as we want to find the best match for Hallie:
-Humans with time, patience and commitment to see Hallie blossom
-Fully fenced yard
-A resident dog who is welcoming to others, playful and confident
-A home without small children
-A home where someone is home most of the time


Here are the basics of how adoption from Palmetto Paws works. Please READ IN FULL PRIOR to completing an application. Most of your questions are answered here.
-We only take applications for those pets listed for adoption-any applications prior to a dog being posted for adoption will NOT be considered. Completing an application does not guarantee an adoption.
-Please DO NOT complete an application if you are not ready to adopt immediately- we only consider applications for those applicants ready and available on the Saturday of the week the application is submitted.
-All applications submitted receive an auto response detailing the process as well as the same details here.
-Dogs reside in private foster homes. We do not host events and there is no opportunity to view multiple dogs.
-We take many things into consideration when reviewing applications. -The age to be considered for adoption is 25.
- As we receive many applications for our pups we will only be in touch with the selected applicant to arrange a meet/potential adoption. -The question regarding heartworm disease must be answered in full. We feel all adopters should be knowledgeable about heartworm disease and the basics can be found online if you are unfamiliar with it. All current and prior household pets must be/have been kept up to date on vaccines, preventives and spayed/neutered for adoption consideration. -We will not process applications that are not for a specific dog listed on our Petfinder site.
-We do not process and "hold" applications. We do not ship dogs and we do not arrange transports. All adopters must be present to complete the adoption. -We do consider out of state applicants as long as the applicant is willing to come to Charleston to complete the adoption. If an adopter is approved we do a meet and greet with a specific dog or pup. If at the meet we all agree its a good match, then the adoption takes place at that time. Their is no opportunity to meet and adopt at a later date. -Please keep in mind that we do our best to make an educated guess as to the breeds of our rescued pets. In rescue we rarely see the parents of the puppies, and even when we do, they are usually mixed breeds as well. We will never promise a particular breed or adult size. We do our best to put all info we have in the bio. -We will not respond to inquires regarding information that is already detailed in the bio.
-Adoptable pets are spayed/neutered (unless the rescue Veterinarian deems the pup/dog will need to be adopted on a SN contract), have age appropriate vaccines, are current on hw and flea preventatives and are microchipped. All adopters are provided with a medical summary, a new collar and leash, a few toys and chews, food to get started, an opportunity to go over basic training/pet care and help shopping for supplies if needed.
