🇺🇸
Milton, Delaware
August 27th

DESCRIPTION

Dog Name: Camembert
Breed: Mixed Breed
Sex: Male
DOB: End of May, 2026
Weight: 12 lbs (as of 7/14/26)
Medical Needs: Routine shots, as well as flea/tick/heartworm preventative meds. Neuter by October 31, 2026*.
House Broken: No, but making progress with frequent and regular trips to potty.
Crate Trained: Camembert is used to being housed in a crate/pen set up when unsupervised.

Good in Car: Yes, he enjoys the ride and generally settles down to sleep.
Good on a Leash: Too young to have much experience, but cooperative enough.
Energy Level: Puppy energy, then nap time in the puppy pile.
Need a Fenced in Yard: No
Dog Friendly: Yes. There are 3 adult females in the foster home, he is completely comfortable playing with his sibling, not afraid of the big girls and accepts correction gracefully.
If Yes, does your dog need another dog in its adoptive home? No, but he would love it if there were one.
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Yes
If Yes, What's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any age with supervision. Puppy teeth and nails are sharp, and they haven't learned not to use them on people yet.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Still waters run deep; in quiet moments Camembert is laid back, observant, and generally quiet. You can almost see the gears and wheels turning behind those soulful green eyes. On the other hand, Camembert is ALL PUPPY. He loves to run, pounce, chase, chew, tug and roll. Camembert continues to learn vital skills (boundaries, pack hierarchy, bite inhibition, doggie door) from our 3 retired mamas in residence. This handsome boy loves a good snuggle and will happily fall asleep in your arms.

Foster Location: Lewes, DE

*Neuter must be completed by October 31, 2026, and is scheduled by Grass Roots Rescue. Appointments can be requested for Georgetown, Dover, or Wilmington. We will request the appointment at the location most convenient for the adopter.
Foster to adopt families must understand we are given dates and whatever date their dog is assigned by the clinic, is the date they are required to keep. Because the neuter is still pending, foster to adopt families must live within an hour of the locations listed above, and must be willing to travel there for the appointment. A required $75.00 check must be submitted by the adopter, which Grass Roots Rescue will hold and then destroy once the neuter is verified.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
