Tabitha - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Medfield, Massachusetts

Tabitha is a sweet 9-month-old black, tan and white mixed-breed girl who weighs about 27 pounds. We think she has some shepherd in her mix.

Tabitha was dumped at a dump in TN, and she has been blossoming in foster care ever since. Everything about life with people is brand new to her, and she is soaking it all up with a wagging tail.

Tabitha is a little timid when she meets someone new. She may hang back at first, but she warms up quickly once she sees that you want to give her pets. Her foster says her confidence and personality grow every day as she learns that nothing is going to hurt her. She adores walks, belly rubs and attention, and she loves running and playing with other dogs. She plays gently and has had no problems with any dog she has met, so a canine buddy would make her very happy.

This smart girl is learning fast. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate from 10 pm to 7 am, and house training is going great. She is picking up basic commands, and even though she had never worn a leash before she came into foster care, she is already learning to walk nicely at her foster’s side. Tabitha has medium energy and does well with two or three short walks a day plus plenty of playtime. She is fine for apartment or city living and is comfortable both inside and outside.

Tabitha has spent time around children ages six and up. She is curious and watches them closely, though she needs a couple of minutes to be sure they are gentle. She can be overwhelmed with with a noise and chaos , so a quiet/calm home with older children would be best. Tabitha will chase cats if they run, so needs a home without cats. With a little patience while she warms up, Tabitha will make a loyal, loving companion for life.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
