Gia - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Lansing, Michigan

GIA

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Lansing, Michigan
October 20th
female, small, adult

DESCRIPTION

Meet Gia! This 6-year-old girl is ready to find a home where she can feel safe, loved, and comfortable being herself.

Gia enjoys attention and will happily nudge you for pets, though new environments can make her a little nervous. She has lived with children, dogs, and cats, but she'll need thoughtful introductions and a home that respects her boundaries. Because she can become protective of her favorite person in certain situations, a home without young children would be best. All family members should meet her before adoption.

Gia may need some extra help with housetraining, as she has a history of accidents and has used potty pads. She has also struggled with being left alone, including barking and chewing, so continued crate training and fun enrichment activities will be important. She can bark at unfamiliar people and dogs, especially on leash, but positive reinforcement training and patient introductions can help her build confidence.

Gia has a lot of potential to thrive with someone who understands her needs and is willing to help her feel secure. In return, you'll have a sweet companion who loves attention and is ready for a fresh start! Gia is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Please stop by the shelter and meet Gia - or reach out for more information! adoptions@adoptlansing.org or 517-626-6060

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
