DESCRIPTION

Meet Alex! He is a 1-year-old handsome medium-sized boy, weighing around 40 pounds and still growing, who's ready to find a loving home to call his own. He originally came to us from a shelter in Tennessee, and he's been patiently waiting since 5/1/2026 for his chance at a fresh start.

Alex is a social and friendly young dog who enjoys spending time with people. He absolutely loves snacks, which makes him a great candidate for training and continued learning. His eagerness for treats can be a helpful tool in building his confidence and reinforcing positive behaviors.

We recommend a home with older children, and all family members should come in to meet him prior to adoption to ensure a good fit. Alex has shown that he can be uncomfortable around other dogs here at the shelter, so if adopters believe he may be a good fit for their home, a meet and greet with any resident dogs would be required. Adopters may also wish to work with a trainer to help Alex continue building confidence and positive social skills.

Alex is a young dog who would do best with a family that is committed to continued training, socialization, and taking things at his pace. With patience and guidance, he has great potential to grow into a wonderful companion. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. If you're interested in meeting Alex or learning more, please reach out to an adoption counselor by phone at (517) 626-6060 or email at adoptions@adoptlansing.org.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
