Mixed Breed Dogs Available for Adoption in Fairfax, Virginia

XENA

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Fairfax, Virginia
April 27th
female, large, adult

DESCRIPTION

Xena the dog is a sweetheart who seems to think every new person is a potential best friend! Weighing in a 77lbs with a grey and white coat, Xena greets you with slow, full-body tail wags, her ears gently tipped back, and her mouth relaxed and open. She often leaves her tongue hanging out in a big, happy grin. Staff and volunteers say she’s a pleasure to walk and handle (she can be a bit of a puller and strong on leash due to her enthusiasm for exercise), moving easily at your side and checking in with soft, curious eyes. Xena absolutely loves attention and isn’t shy about asking for more. She leans in with a loose, wiggly body and a soft expression, soaking up scritches and happily flopping down, sometimes full-on splooting on the floor, while you pet her. Give her a toy and she’s in heaven! Her previous owner describes her as "a very sweet, loving dog" who adores snuggling up and getting loved on, especially those cherished butt pats, when you come home from work or school. Xena came from a home with two small dogs and reportedly enjoys playing with other dogs. We recommend brining your entire family, including any canine companions, to the shelter to meet Xena and make sure she is a good fit for your pack! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who is equal parts cuddle buddy and playmate, Xena is ready to fill your home (and your heart) with love.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
