Meet Chop!
Chop was surrendered when his owner could no longer care for him and is ready to find a fresh start with a family of his own. This handsome boy has a medium energy level and loves spending time with his people, whether it's heading out for a walk, playing with his favorite rope toys, or hopping in the car for an adventure. He's ready to chop his way right into your heart!

My Ideal Home
Chop would love an adopter who can provide daily walks, enrichment, and plenty of positive reinforcement. He enjoys staying active but also appreciates a predictable routine to help him feel confident. Puzzle toys, appropriate chew toys, and fun training sessions will keep both his mind and body happy.

Good with Other Pets?
Chop's previous family shared that he was friendly with unfamiliar dogs on leash, but he has shown that he can be uncomfortable around some dogs in the shelter environment. Slow introductions to dog friends are recommended, and dog parks are not the best fit for him. He also chased cats on walks with his previous owner, so a home without cats or small animals is recommended.

Good with Kids?
An adult only home is recommended for Chop. He can be sensitive about having his paws handled, especially during nail trims, and will do best with adopters who can respect his boundaries while helping him build positive associations through reward based training.

Things to Know
Chop is housetrained, enjoys car rides, and isn't picky when it comes to treats, making training extra rewarding. His previous family shared that he sometimes chewed on shoes, so providing plenty of appropriate chew toys and enrichment will help keep him on the right paw. He may need a little time to settle into new situations, but with patience and kindness, this sweet boy is sure to shine.

Chop is enrolled in our Shelter Scholar program and is blossoming with every training session. He is working on learning to relax on a mat, which is helping him find his calm and feel settled no matter the environment. With patience and positive reinforcement, Chop is developing the confidence and composure he needs to truly thrive.

My Boroughbreaker writes: Went to Astoria park for a long walk where Chop decided to stop unexpectedly to roll around on the grass. Walked around the park with no bother. Then went to small beach area in Astoria as well where it look like it was his first time in a beach and was very curious about the waves. He very quickly decided that he liked the water and showed me he knows how to swim. After when to my private backyard area where we played fetch then he was rinsed and dried from the salt water.
