Are you looking for a new best friend? Joel would like the position! Joel could sit on the couch and snuggle right next to you all day. Pets are his favorite thing in the world! It is a little confusing to him that you might have something to do other than pet him, but when that happens, he often gets the hint pretty quickly and is great at resting nearby while you get things done.

Joel is affectionate, attentive and picks up on new tricks quickly. He gets the occassional burst of energy and loves taking walks. He would be a great dog to take on adventures! He also settles well, doesn't bark much and sleeps great in his kennel at night. While he gets excited for treats, he is not overly motivated by food and shows no signs of resource guarding.

Joel gets along great with the 10-year-old human who lives in his foster home, and is always happy to see her. The dog in his foster home is not as excited as Joel is to play, so they haven't spent a ton of time together. I think Joel would be fine as a solo pet or with another dog in the home who matches his energy and enjoys playing. He seems to have a stronger prey drive, so living with a cat may be difficult. Joel exhibits some classic German Shepherd traits too, including the occasional land shark behavior, so experience with that breed would be helpful.

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs over 9 months), FIV/FeLV test (cats - one in the litter), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration).
