Meet Fern!
Sweet little Fern may have started her life as a stray puppy but she's quickly learning what it means to be safe, loved, and cared for-and she has SO much love to give in return!
Fern is a young puppy with a big personality packed into one adorable little body. She's playful, curious, affectionate, smart, and some bonus puppy sass! Since we don't know much about her life before rescue, we're getting to know her one day at a time-and she continues to surprise us with just how sweet and clever she is.
Fern is a professional puppy-kisser. She absolutely loves giving kisses and being around her people. When she's not busy showing off her affection, she loves to PLAY! Her favorite toy so far seems to be a rope toy/her leash, and she can keep herself entertained with a good play session.
Like any true puppy, Fern comes with all the classic puppy things: puppy nibbles, puppy energy, puppy curiosity, and the occasional potty accident. We're currently working hard on her potty training and teaching her that jumping isn't the best way to say hello. She has already learned "sit" and catches on to things quickly. She is a very smart girl, and with consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, she is going to be such a fun dog to train and grow alongside.
Fern & Other Pets:
Fern currently lives with both dogs and cats in her foster home.
She doesn't seem particularly interested in playing with the resident dogs, but she does respect them when they tell her they've had enough. She actually listens surprisingly well to their boundaries for such a young puppy!
The cats, on the other hand, are a different story. Fern LOVES them-perhaps a little too much! She gets very excited and wants to play, including attempting to tackle them because, in Fern's mind, every cat is apparently an invitation to wrestle.
That said, she does listen when the cats make it clear they're done playing. Because she is still so young and learning appropriate play, she will need continued supervision and guidance around cats. We think having a confident, playful dog companion could potentially be a great outlet for some of her puppy energy, but any introductions should always be slow, supervised, and based on the individual animals.
Fern & Kennel Training:
Fern is also working on her kennel training and learning how to settle and stay calm in her space. She's still a baby, so she's very much learning that her kennel is a safe place to relax rather than somewhere she needs to be constantly on the go.
And, honestly? For a puppy, she is doing great! She is learning, improving, and showing us every day that she is capable of so much.
Fern is looking for a forever family who understands that puppies are a work in progress. She will need someone who is willing to continue working on potty training, manners, kennel training, boundaries, and all the other little lessons that come with raising a puppy.
But in return, you get to watch this little girl grow from a goofy, sassy puppy into the amazing dog she is meant to become.
Her past may be a mystery, but her future doesn't have to be.
Fern is ready to leave her stray days behind and begin the next chapter of her life-with a family who will love her, teach her, laugh with her, and give her the forever home she deserves.
And if you're looking for a puppy who will greet you with kisses, make you laugh daily, keep you on your toes, and fill your home with love...
Fern might just be your girl.

The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org).
Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs over 9 months), FIV/FeLV test (cats - one in the litter), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration).
Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.
