Pokey - Mixed Breed and Rottweiler Dog for Adoption in Brookshire, Texas

HE WAS JUST LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO CHOOSE HIM.

On the first day of school, the junior high secretary called about a big black-and-tan dog hanging around the school. He was sweet, friendly...and trying to follow the kids right inside.

Turns out, he'd been showing up for a while.

Every morning during cross-country practice, Pokey would greet the kids and even run alongside them. He clearly loved being around people — especially children — and seemed to have decided the school was a pretty good place to find some friends.

His picture was posted locally. We waited. Surely someone was missing this beautiful boy.

No one came.

And the reality was heartbreaking. If he was picked up as a stray, his chances were not good.

So some pretty incredible people said, “Not this one.”

They stepped up when no one else would, got Pokey somewhere safe, and now this boy has a chance.

Meet POKEY — as in Hokey Pokey!

He's approximately 2 years old and around 70 lbs. We think he may have some Anatolian in that big handsome build, dressed up in gorgeous Rottie colors.

And his personality? AMAZING.

Happy & playful
Sits on command
Sweet, social and just an all-around GOOD BOY

No chip. Intact. No owner came looking.

So now we do what rescue does.

We make sure Pokey never has to wonder where he belongs again.

Pokey will need vetting, vaccines, neuter, preventatives and everything else necessary to get him ready for his next chapter. And with so many dogs already depending on us, we need our village to help us say YES to Pokey.
