Meet Petunia!

This beautiful young mixed breed girl just arrived in our program from our friends and rescue partner in Mexico's Baja California Sur region (Los Barriles). She's now getting the chance to rest and decompress from her long travels now that she's in a temporary foster home in Portland. Backstory:
Petunia is a soft, sweet puppy who loves to eat, play and sleep on her back. She avoids conflict. Petunia came to the shelter in Mexico with another lucky dog named Chico from a local lady. They get along very well though we do not know if they were together before they arrived at the shelter. Apparently they were living on the street. She is very people friendly and a very sweet & smart dog.

Foster Update!
Petunia has been such a sweetheart since getting in last night! No accidents so far - she's gone potty outside with no issues. We've gone on two walks with our bigger boy dog and she does great. She's responsive on leash, comes when called, and is motivated to keep up with the pack. She knows her name and some basic commands (she has an especially excellent sit and is super responsive to "no") and has great manners with the other critters in the house. She's given the cats some respectful kisses but otherwise kept her distance. She was pretty nervous in her crate last night but slept like a rock on our guest bed. She hasn't tried to chew anything that hasn't been given to her, and is pretty gentle with toys. Truly, she's a dream little doggie! We were expecting a much trickier first day with her, but she settled right in. No fear of my husband or other people she's met, was very brave for her bath today, and gives lots and lots of kisses
